Kelowna Hyperhidrosis Botox Treatment
How it works: Botox neurotoxin is a purified protein that helps control sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, thereby preventing sweat from being produced in the treatment area.
How long does the treatment take? The length of the botox treatment depends on the area being treated. On average, each treatment takes 10-20 minutes.
How long does it take to reduce the sweating? The reduction of sweating begins to take effect within the first few days but may take at least a week to reach full effectiveness.
Are there any side effects to the Botox treatment? If side effects do occur, they are usually temporary. These include minor bruising and swelling at the treatment site. Patients who have had the botox injected into their palms may experience a temporary weakening of the fine muscles of the hands.
How long does it last? After the Botox injections have been administered, hyperhidrosis is usually controlled for 6-8 months. On average, repeat treatments are required every 6 months as the effects begin to diminish.
What areas can Botox be used to treat? Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis works well for many areas of the body including the underarms, palms, forehead and feet.
