Duration: The duration of your laser hair removal treatment will vary depending on your skin type, the thickness of your hair as well as the size and location of the area being treated. It could take anywhere from 15 minutes - 2 hours. During an initial consultation with one of our specialized staff members, they will be better able to advise you on the timings for your specific treatment.

Number of treatments: All patients will require a series of treatment but the number of treatments needed will vary depending on your skin color, hair color and the thickness of your hair. How does laser hair removal for men work?

Because men tend to have thicker, deeper and denser hair follicles than women, our skin care specialists are experienced in providing permanent hair removal solutions tailored specifically for our male patients.

During the procedure, we will provide you with protective eye goggles and the area to be treated will be shaved. A small hand piece will be placed on your skin, activating the laser which sends gentle and powerful pulses of light through the surface of your skin, where it is absorbed by the hair follicle. This damages the growing hair but not the surrounding tissue, ensuring that the hair does not grow again. The size and location of the treatment area will determine the number of laser pulses required.

Is the GentleLase hair removal system painful?

The GentleLase hair removal was built with a unique and innovative cooling technology which protects your skin and reduces discomfort. A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to the treatment to minimize any pain but most of our patients tolerate the laser very well. Following the treatment, a soothing gel will be applied to the affected area.

What can I do to prepare for my laser hair removal treatment?

6 weeks prior to your treatment, you should not wax, pluck, tweeze or use hair removal cream although shaving is permitted. You should also avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds at least 4 weeks before your treatment to ensure optimal results.

What can I expect after my laser hair removal treatment?

There are some mild and temporary side effects of the laser hair removal treatment which include slight redness, itching, swelling and bruising though these should resolve themselves within a few hours of the procedure. After your treatment, you will be able to return to your daily activities though you should avoid overexposure to the sun and ensure that you use sunblock with SPF 30 on all the treated areas.
