FAQs about Thermage

What is it?

Thermage is a safe, non invasive procedure that’s clinically proven to help smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall younger looking appearance. It has been FDA approved since 2002.  Thermage’s unique radiofrequency (RF) technology safely heats the deep, collagen rich layers of your skin.  The heat helps tighten existing collagen and stimulate the formation of new collagen over time. 

How long is the treatment?

Treatments average about 1-2 hours for the face and a little longer for other parts of the body, depending on the size, location and condition of the area being treated for tightening.

Can I go right back to work?

Unlike many laser procedures requiring four or more sessions, Thermage delivers results in a single treatment for most patients.  There is no special care needed after treatment and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment.

Can I get Thermage if I have had other cosmetic procedures?

Thermage procedures are compatible with most other cosmetic procedures, like soft tissue fillers, Fraxel or even Botox.  For best results you will need to discuss your past procedures, as well as your current expectations with your practitioner.

Can I get Thermage instead of a facelift?

Your skin will definitely be tightened with Thermage but it won’t provide the dramatic results of a surgical facelift.  If you would like modest tightening of your skin without surgery, then Thermage may be right for you.  We would be happy to discuss different approaches during your consultation.
