Once we pass through our 20’s and enter into our 30’s and beyond, there are things we can do to prevent our skin from aging faster than usual. Evaluate your lifestyle and consider alleviating some of the following bad habits that may be contributing to premature aging:
- Not getting enough sleep can result in bags under the eyes and a sallow complexion. Endeavor to get good quality sleep whenever possible (7-8 hours a night). This provides good “repair time” for your skin.
- Excessive smoking, drinking and sugar age the skin at a quicker pace. We are not suggesting you give these up all together but “moderation” is a good rule of thumb.
- The skin likes routine so not using good skin care products on a regular basis can cause havoc.
- Going to bed without washing off the day’s pollutants and makeup can cause pores to clog and leave you with rough, dull skin. Take the extra few minutes to cleanse and moisturize in order to give your skin a chance to rejuvenate.
As we enter our forties and beyond, it is easy to think that we have no control over our aging skin. One step you can take is to see a good skincare specialist who can educate you on some of the anti-aging options that are available today. We at the Okanagan Skin Care Centre want to wish you a very wonderful holiday season!
