Find The Right Hair Removal Style For The Bikini Area

It’s swimsuit season, and the only thing tricker than finding the perfect swimsuit is deciding on the right warm-weather grooming options.

Most women have tried a variety of grooming and hair removal techniques over the years, from waxing and shaving to sugaring and epilation. Keeping your skin smooth and hair-free come with discomfort, so for those with sensitive skin, finding non-irritating options can be even more overwhelming.

Choosing A Hair Removal Method

When it comes to maintaining the bikini area, many people are uncertain as to what the best option is.

Waxing is many people’s favourite choice, as it leaves skin smooth, but this method also results in regrowth. Moreover, while waxing might be a great option for the bikini area, those seeking more extensive hair removal like a Brazillian wax might find having this procedure done monthly to be uncomfortable.

Epilation removes hairs by the root using many tiny, rotating pairs of tweezers. This method is efficient and thorough but can lead to ingrown hairs and discomfort when epilating more sensitive areas.

While shaving is simple and straightforward, regrowth comes back quickly. Additionally, shaving can result in razor nicks and even ingrown hairs, both of which can be painful and embarrassing when they occur in the bikini area.

Laser Hair Removal

This is a great option for those seeking a long-term hair removal solution. The laser target pigment (and therefore, the darker hair), and destroys the hair follicle with a pulse of light. We recommend this treatment for most of our patients. However, certain patients might require more than one session to get the results they’re seeking, and certain variants of this procedure are not advised for those with very fair hair.

Choosing A Style

Once you’ve chosen a hair removal method, it’s time to choose the grooming style that works best for you. The following laser hair removal options are available at our Kelowna skin clinic.

Basic Bikini

This option is no-fuss and ideal for those getting their hair removed for the first time. Your technician simply removes hair on both sides of the bikini line. If your natural hair growth pattern includes hairs between the top of the bikini line and the belly button, this will be removed as well.

Full Bikini

While the basic bikini could be considered a “touch up”, the full bikini is a little more dramatic. In this case, your technician will remove more hair along the sides and top. This is ideal for those who still want a natural appearance but prefer swimwear with a more dramatic cut.

The French Wax

This takes off most of the hair in front, but not in the back. Usually, a rectangle is left in the front, although our clients can choose other shapes that they would prefer.

The Brazillian Wax

This treatment takes away all of the hair across the bikini area in both the front and in the back. A small rectangle or triangle is left in the front.

The Hollywood

The Hollywood removes all hair in the front, middle, and back. If you prefer a fully smooth look, this option is right for you.
