How To Use Latisse®

Latisse® is a prescription treatment used to improve the length, fullness, density, and colour of eyelashes. Instead of making eyelashes just appear longer or darker, like wearing mascara or dying the eyelashes, Latisse® works to grow healthier eyelashes for a full, dramatic look. Latisse® is safer and more effective than any over-the-counter eyelash solution designed to improve eyelashes and this Health Canada-approved product creates dramatic results when instructions are properly followed. For ideal results, Latisse® should be used regularly following these specific steps.

Steps For Using Latisse®

Step 1: Wash your hands, remove all makeup, and wash your face so that the application area is clean. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before applying Latisse®.

Step 2: Remove one sterile applicator from its tray or packaging and hold it horizontally. Apply one drop of the Latisse® solution on the applicator. Apply this drop on the area closest to the tip but not directly on the tip.

Step 3: Starting at the inner corner of your eye, brush the applicator along the base of the upper eyelid along the lash line. Do this on the outside of the eyelid, not your waterline. Your eye should be shut during application.

Step 4: With a clean tissue, gently blot any excess Latisse® product that has gone beyond the eyelid.

Step 5: Once you’ve used the applicator on one eyelid, throw it away. Get a new, sterile applicator for use on the other eyelid and repeat steps 1 through 4.

Important Information About Latisse®

To see beautiful, full eyelashes, Latisse® should be used once a day every day for 16 weeks. The process doesn’t take long, but it does require consistent use. When using Latisse®, remember to keep your eyes safe by following all care instructions. Here are some other instructions to keep in mind.

  • Do not use an applicator more than once.
  • Do not apply Latisse® to the eyeball or lower eyelid. Avoid getting any excess solution into the eye during application. If you do get any Latisse® solution into your eye, do not rinse it. Even though Latisse® is not designed to be applied to the eyeball it will not damage your eye if a small amount gets in your eye.
  • If you miss a day of use, do not try to make up for it by using Latisse® twice in one day. Simply continue using Latisse® once a day, every day.
  • Stop using Latisse® if you develop any eye conditions whether or not they are related to the use of Latisse® (this can include pink eye, eye irritation, or any eye injury or surgery that needs to heal). Latisse® not designed to be used on eyes that are healing from injury or allergic reactions.
  • If your vision becomes blurry or if you have any eye reactions during use, visit an optometrist.
  • Latisse® is not approved for use on people under 18 years old. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should wait to use Latisse®.

FAQ

Q: Does the use of LATISSE® create permanently fuller eyelashes?
A: No, LATISSE® will create fuller, longer, and darker eyelashes while in use, but once you stop using it the eyelashes will gradually return to their original state, although this may take several weeks to several months depending on how fast your eyelashes grow

Q: How soon will I see results?
A: LATISSE® solution is a treatment that works gradually. You may see longer, darker lashes after 4 weeks, however, full results are achieved after 16 weeks of daily use. After the 16 weeks, your medical practitioner will advise you whether or not to continue use. Individual results may vary.

Q: What are the risks associated with using LATISSE®?
A: The most frequently reported adverse side effects are irritation or itching, conjunctivitis (‘pink eye’), dry or irritated eyes, eyelid swelling, and skin hyperpigmentation. LATISSE® may lower the pressure inside your eye, but not to a level that will cause harm. In some patients, the iris and skin can darken temporarily, and, if the solution is incorrectly applied, it could stimulate hair growth where it was not wiped off.
