Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is an innovative and advanced anti-aging therapy designed to gently penetrate the skin to stimulate the regrowth of collagen. It effectively and safely improves the overall texture and tone of your skin, leaving you with a vibrant, glowing and naturally younger looking appearance.

Ideal for:

  • Improving the appearance of acne scars
  • Eliminating fine wrinkles
  • Minimizing pore sizes
  • Improving the appearance of stretch marks
  • Treats and improves alopecia

At Okanagan Skin Care Centre, we are dedicated to bringing our clients the most exclusive, advanced and safest natural anti-aging therapies. Based on a comprehensive one-on-one consultation with one of our qualified Registered Nurses, we will be able to develop a customized microneedling treatment plan for you to ensure that all your aesthetic goals are met.

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive, safe anti aging treatment which, through a hand-held device, employs 12 ultra fine needles to break down the old scar tissue in your skin and stimulate skin cells to produce more collagen in the treated area. Not only does this reduce the appearance of fine lines and any unwanted wrinkles, it also encourages improved blood supply, helping you look and feel healthier, younger and much more refreshed.

Advantages

  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Encourages the production of collagen
  • Stimulates tissue regeneration
  • Minimally-invasive
  • Requires little or no downtime
  • Can be performed on all skin types
  • It can be used on multiple areas of the face including your scalp and the more delicate skin around your eyes

Duration

Collagen Induction Therapy is an in-office procedure and while treatment time varies depending on the targeted area, it typically takes up to 60 minutes.

Number of treatments

Depending on the area being treated, a series of 3-6 treatments spread 4-6 weeks apart is recommended to experience the full benefits of microneedling.

Results

It is typical to experience some inflammation, redness and skin peeling for a few days after the treatment. However, these side effects quickly resolve themselves and you will see visible improvements in your skin within one week of the procedure.

Our team at Okanagan Skin Care Centre are constantly seeking new and innovative anti-aging therapies to provide our clients with better, more natural and longer lasting results.

Microneedling FAQ

How does Microneedling work?

With the use of a pen-shaped device consisting of 12 ultra fine needles placed over the treatment area, this anti-aging treatment works by breaking down old skin cells and forming new collagen fibres.

Is Microneedling painful?

Prior to any microneedling procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort you may experience. Our Registered Nurse Skincare Specialists will always ensure that you are as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

What can I do to prepare for my Microneedling therapy?

Microneedling can be safely performed on all skin types and skin colors. However, it is not recommended for patients who:

  • Have used Accutane in the past three months
  • Have any open wounds or abrasions
  • Have had radiation treatment to the skin within the past year
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have any current skin irritation/infection in the treatment area
  • Have a history of poor wound healing or keloid scars

What can I expect after my Microneedling treatment?

There are a few mild side effects associated with collagen induction therapy including irritation to the treatment area which may last from 24-48 hours. Most patients are able to enjoy visible results after the very first treatment though, depending on individual responses and the area being treated, 3-4 microneedling procedures are recommended, repeated every 4-6 weeks to achieve optimum results.
