Hot Sculpting

Hot Sculpting can tighten loose skin, improve cellulite, and sculpt off several inches on the upper arms, back, hips, abdomen, or thighs.

As noted in this previous article on Hot Sculpting versus CoolSculpting, there are many reasons to choose Hot Sculpting to help remove stubborn body fat once and for all.

Hot Sculpting can permanently remove fat deposits and tighten the surrounding skin, all while using a gentle process that does not require surgery or needles. That’s why Hot Sculpting with the Fotona SP Dynamis Laser is one of the most popular procedures we offer at Okanagan Skin Care Centre.

Here’s an overview of everything you need to know about the procedure, including the process, ideal candidates, number of treatments, and recovery.

How does Hot Sculpting work?

Hot Sculpting is an excellent alternative to liposuction, with the added benefit of removing targeted fat deposits on your body without any needles, incisions, or anesthesia.

During the procedure, the technician will place a special applicator on the target area and apply a precise laser beam to penetrate below the skin and heat the underlying fat tissues. The heat from the laser causes the fat cells to die, a process known as laser lipolysis.

Once the fat cells are destroyed, the body removes the dead tissue on its own through a natural elimination process. The action of the laser beam will also tighten the collagen around the treatment area, lending a noticeably toned, taut look to the skin even after the fat deposits have been removed.

The sensation is similar to a dry sauna, in which you will feel a moderate warmth or heat. Through precise calibration of the laser and careful monitoring, the technician will ensure that you are safe and comfortable at all times. Typically, the treatment takes about 20 minutes for an area of 6 to 8 inches.

Who’s the best candidate for Hot Sculpting?

The best candidates for Hot Sculpting are individuals who are already at their target weight and planning to maintain this weight through a healthy lifestyle.

Hot Sculpting is not advised for pregnant women, people with metal or electronic implants, or those with a health condition that diminishes their ability to heal, such as cancer or a serious infection.

How many treatments do you need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the amount of body fat to be removed and the size of the area being treated.

On average, most patients see the best results with 6 to 8 sessions of Hot Sculpting.

Do you need downtime or recovery time after Hot Sculpting?

One of the best benefits of Hot Sculpting is how gentle this procedure can be. Hot Sculpting does not require surgery or anesthesia, so there is little or no recovery time required.

It is common to notice some moderate swelling or redness in the treated area immediately after the procedure, but this usually goes away within a few hours.

At our Kelowna skin clinic, we find that most of our patients are able to return to their normal activities within the same day.
